When it comes to purchasing a carrying case for the Nintendo Switch, there’s quite a few variables to consider. How large is the case? What kind of features does it have, if any? Does it come with any accessories? But not every variable to consider has to do with functionality. Sometimes, it can just come down to how good it looks.
While looking over the various Nintendo Switch cases, you can come across many designs. Perhaps a minimalist design with maybe just the Switch logo at the front or just nothing at all. Or maybe a design themed after Nintendo series such as Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, etc.
Most officially licensed carrying cases for the Nintendo Switch come with themed variants featuring Nintendo famous franchises as well as a standard minimalist design. But then there are some cases that just have a minimalist design or perhaps even their own design or color palette. It may not be the most important aspect when choosing a travel case, but it is something to think about.
A minimalist case can be useful for keeping what you’re carrying discreet. If there’s no logo or such on the case, no one will really know that you’re carrying a high priced video game console with you. On top of providing protection from outside damages, a minimalist designed travel case is good for those who prefer to be cautious about bringing their Nintendo Switch console outside in the first place.
However, if you’re not bothered by having your Nintendo Switch outside, there’s still something charming about a minimalist designed travel case. The simplicity, such as just having the Nintendo Switch logo at the forefront of the case, can just make it easier to tell what the purpose of the case is. It doesn’t have to look flashy or distracting to do its job.
On the other hand, a themed case is good for those who just really love their favorite Nintendo franchise and wants to show that. Themed cases come with their own various designs as well. Either a simple logo/symbol, splash art from the game itself, or a unique design in general. They can have fairly minimalistic designs themselves.
Whichever route you decide to take when choosing a case, minimalist or themed, just keep in mind that what the case on the inside can provide for you and your Nintendo Switch. Is the console safely secured inside? Are there any extra accessories that come with the case? Is it as functional as it is stylish?
There are always reasons for or against one choice or another. And it’s always up to you for what kind of case you desire to secure your on the go gaming.
