The TAKECASE Hard Shell Carrying Case for the Nintendo Switch is a case manufactured by TAKECASE, an independent brand founded in 2015 whose mission is to improve the quality and functionality of cases currently on the market. They’ve designed carrying cases for the Nintendo 3DS XL/New 2DS XL, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch Lite.
Details About The Case (Exterior)
The dimensions of this TAKECASE is about 10.2 x 5.2 x 3.2 inches. It has a 6mm Ballistic Nylon hard shell that not only makes it scratch proof, but also water-resistant. Meaning that water won’t penetrate through the inside of the case where the Nintendo Switch and other accessories lie inside. At most the case will feel a bit damp for a while. And of course, this hard shell will protect the mobile console from accidental drops as well.
It’s zipped up using a 2 way zipper and at the top of the case there’s a handle for easy carrying.
When it comes to the design of the case, it’s black across the 3 versions of them with the only visible difference being the color of the TAKECASE logo placed on the bottom right corner of the case. The color of the logo matching the color of the interior. A very minimalist design, making it good for those who prefer to be discreet about the fact they’re carrying a high priced video game console.
Details About The Case (Interior)
At the bottom of the TAKECASE, there’s a mold fitted for not only the Nintendo Switch, but also an attachment known as the Heavy-Duty Mumba Case. There’s also a strap that can be used to easily lift up the Switch so it can be removed. It’s a bit difficult to remove the console otherwise. Above, there’s a padded partition that will cover the screen of the Nintendo Switch as it’s enclosed within the case, making sure the screen will not be scratched or otherwise damaged. This particular partition can also be attached to a velcro strap to press onto the console, further ensuring its safety.
There are actually 2 of these partitions within the case, the one as described before and another one on the other side of the case above it. Each of these dividers are capable of holding game cartridges of the Nintendo Switch. The above one can hold 10 cartridges while the one at the bottom can only hold 9 as one of the slots is where the velcro is positioned. The game cartridges can go deep inside each slot, making it difficult for them to ever fall out and you can see through the slots to see which game is in what slot.
Finally, the top side of the case is used as a mesh pocket to hold other accessories you may want to carry along with your Nintendo Switch and its games. It’s capable of comfortably holding objects as large as the AC Adapter used to charge the battery of the mobile console, as well as an extra pair of Joy-Con Controllers at the same time. This makes the TAKECASE capable of carrying everything essential, save for the Dock, for the Nintendo Switch on the go.
As mentioned before, the TAKECASE is almost as minimalist as it can get when it comes to the design. All around the exterior is the black ballistic nylon protecting the case, with the only color being the logo placed on the bottom right corner. Depending on which of the 3 versions of the TAKECASE you decide to purchase, however, the logo can either be in the color blue, red, or black.
This will also affect the color of the case interior. The inside of the case will be covered in whichever color version you decide to purchase, with the exceptions of the mesh pocket, slots for the game cartridges, velcro strap, etc.
When it comes to functionality, the TAKECASE is probably one of the best cases for the Nintendo Switch given it’s carrying capabilities and how it’s both resistant to outside damages and water. You can carry the handheld console, an abundance of game cartridges for those who prefer buying physical games as opposed to digital, and quite a few accessories such as the AC adapter or extra Joy-Con Controllers. Pretty much everything essential for the console can be safely carried inside this travel case.
It may not have the most impressive design, but it’s not as though it’s completely devoid of color, at least on the inside. That is if you decide to go for either the red or blue designs, as opposed to black. But that’s assuming the appearance of the case really matters to you. It’s good for those who don’t want their case to call attention to what their carrying inside or even those who don’t care what the case looks like as long as it does its job.
